This book is about a boy named Brian, who has just survived a plane crash. Now he has survived fall so far (read the 1st book Hatchet). At the end of a story, a plane comes by and picks him up.
The second part is basically saying, what if he hadnt been picked up, only given some emergency supplies and had to survive on his own through the cold canadian winter, with only limited clothing and a self-made shelter.
I personaly like the story with it's many diffrent things that happened to the main charecter and the personal thoughts and difficulties he faced (how do you cut up a moose?).
